As far as the audio log sound recording above, I think the original sounds better in Doom³ as it takes place in a technologically superior future in the 23d Century, whereas the new revamped audio log sounds like the present or the past, more like 1940s-ish BioShock than like some 23d Century futuristic audio-recording/-playback technology.
