The Veena is rated 89dB but the Elsinore was judged about 3dB more sensitive. This latest version is VERY easy to drive for a multi-way type speaker. The new Peerless HDS tweeter is, IMO, a real honey. I hope the DIY fraternity takes it to heart. It is quite an improvement on the Vifa XT25. If any of you guys are considering using it, go for it!

The Elsinores achieve this with extra Sd with 4 drive units per speaker. Another approach to get low distortion in the 300Hz to 2khz band (as mentioned in the Purifi article) is to go 3 way. Taking the Elsinores as an example, the top 2 …

As it is, the current series/parallel configuration of the Elsinores give you a nominal 8 Ohm load. If you parallel first before series, then you'd have to do a series crossover (Elsinores uses parallel crossover). I am afraid you are on your own and whatever you end up with, they won't be an Elsinore speaker. Joe R.

You might considered the Anarchy XBL motor 7-inch drivers. Price is $66USD each. They’ve been around a number of years and vendors, under somewhat varying model numbers for apparently the same driver, but don’t seem to be that well known. Current model numbers are Anarchy-704 (4-ohm), and Anarchy-708 (8-ohm).

The basic thing to remember is the tweeter needs to be as far away from the listener and the 5 1/4" PPB HDS driver closer. The rear cut-out - needs to match the dimensions of whatever terminals you use. The Tweeter must be flush mounted and 5 1/4" PPB driver not. Stuffing: I used wool/dacron (polyester) bats.

Dissecting the Elsinore means nothing anyway because they simply sound Fabulous but I will post much more thoughts and experiences on diy audio. I have a personal vendetta against some commercial brands and mainstream magazines based on some bad experiences, so my retaliation is to try to get people to believe/realize that the Elsinore easily ...
