Audio support in displayport was added on Dec 22 as part of the 1.2 standard. It seems that AMD was able to release a driver update for some ATI cards to enable the feature. However, the receiving device would also need to support it, and depending on what that is, it might be difficult to upgrade it.

I will be trying Roline DP->HDMI + Roline HDMI-HDMI 10m cable in near future. But without audio. I gave up and bought cheap USB Audio (Sweex 7.1). I can get back with experiences with such a long cable. P.S.: I'm sticking to Roline as they proved to be reliable for 720p over 10m DVI on my T60.
