The tv has a digital audio output and I have connected this to the transmitter which syncs to the sound bar. However I am having trouble switching the tvs sound to this output. The HD channels audio is 5.1 or 7.1 audio (multichannel) and it is sent compressed over the coaxial cable - the converter will not decompress this and send analog (two channel) audio to the sound bar. The converters only output two channel audio. Regular TV programming - not HD - only has two channel - stereo sound.
