I would appear the ATI video card sees the EDID audio support of the TV before it sees the audio capabilities of the Denon. The AMD High Definition Audio Device shows 2 channels under the Supported Formats tab in the playback devices of the sound control panel.

My setup includes, the Samsung 8000 series tv at 55 inches, a brand new just bought denon 2310 ci, and the home theatre pc built from scratch by me running the ati video card, with an hdmi running the audio/video to the denon. The symptom is it shows the boot up screen on the denon, shows the windows boot up screen, then goes black.

Plug in the cable to your HDMI out on your motherboard/video card/sound card. Make sure sure it's all the way in. I had to remove some plastic on mine due to the PCI slots on my case getting in the way. With the other end plug the cable into an open HDMI slot. After both are plugged in you won't automatically get audio so dont' sweat just yet.
