There was a further mod of the 3910 with the post-dac filter parts largely replaced. I did not have this unit but heard it.

I too owned an Exemplar 3910 for many years (and loved it). A couple years ago, I tried an Oppo 95. It was clearly inferior to the Exemplar in my audio system, but I do use it in my video system. Recently, I bought a Modwright-modified Oppo 105. It is clearly superior to the Exemplar/Denon in my audio system. I am very happy. I hope this helps ...

I should have written that I really enjoyed the stock 3910 and the video is fantastic. The mod that I did does not change the video and I only did it on a whim.. Bottom line for me is that I had a Denon 2900, and upgraded to the 3910 and it was a great decision. I bought it new in the box off of Audiogon for $750.
