Then Crown did a slow fade from the audiophile scene, preferring to do business with professional musicians and those who buy amps for schools, churches, clubs, and the like. There's something very blue-collar American about the appearance of Crown gear: plain, basic, no-nonsense, meat and potatoes. The stuff is made in Elkhart, Indiana.

Crown is a leading manufacturer of pro audio amplifiers. They are located just a few miles from me in Elkhart, Indiana. It had stellar measurents with no audible distortion.

Jun 15, 2016. #75. I have owned (not listened to in a store or at a friend's) the following Crown amps: Crown PS-400. Crown XLS-1000. Crown XLS-1500. Crown XLS-2000. I've used them to drive a wide variety of mid-range speakers ($1K to $3K). I've used them with both solid state and tube preamps.
