If EAX is missing from Bioshock 2 Remastered, which is a shame, I'll wait with playing until the original release becomes available and play that then. I'm not a fan of remasters anyway. @22raider: I know about all that, but ALchemy isn't emulation but translating DirectSound3D EAX calls to OpenAL.

Bioshock uses EAX5, wich is only available with OpenAL and Creative hardware. Some other vendors used to provide OpenAL support, but without EAX 3-5. You should test it with ALcaps. DSOAL is a wrapper. It can restore some EAX effects from 1 to 4, not completely. And still has issues with the level of reverb effects.

5950x, 32 GB 3600mhz, RTX 3080 TUF. yeah I kinda do. I was playing bioshock infinite as well recently and the audio in that game sounds totally weird. EAX in Bioshock 1 actually did give me fairly accurate directional cues. I really wish more effort was put into this because it really does immerse me into the game.

I discovered that the non-Creative Labs onboard sound on my Asus P8Z77 motherboard supports EAX in Thief Gold & Thief 2. Or at least I'm able to enable the EAX options in in the games' Options Audio menus through the OpenAL selection. But does it really add anything to the game or make a difference?
