Overall, the album has a big-ness to it without feeling too bloated. It’s clear Bell and Hale have found a common workspace, feeding off of each other’s styles in order to aid in a solid, cohesive sound. On past albums, they sometimes fought for the front seat, with Bell often taking the rear and letting Hale’s drier, blander parts lead the album.

Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2013 Verified Purchase This album blew me away. Chiodos has done it again. You can listen to this entire album, starting at the beginning and letting it run through to the end. That is so rare these days. Most albums have three or four strong songs and the rest are just filler. Not so with Illuminaudio.

And Chiodos certainly deliver on those fronts. The rather awkwardly titled Illuminaudio is a huge, polished affair - one bristling with a newfound, and sorely needed, energy.

On Illuminaudio, Chiodos does just that, pulling off one of the biggest suprises of the year. The aforementioned title track is a perfect segue into the album. It uses a good bit of technology to create an atmosphere best described as dark and brooding, but also strangely optimistic.

Tanner Wayne (formerly of Underminded and Scary Kids Scaring Kids), blows up Illuminaudio with his tight beats and full-sounding fills. A fantastic recruit as well. I had the pleasure to see Chiodos on their new tour with co/headliners Blessthefall (and others) in Seattle. Chiodos is sounding better than ever!

Chiodos - Devil (album review 4) | Sputnikmusic

    https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61666/Chiodos-Devil/
Review Summary: Craig Owens brings Pop back to the Chiodos formula When Illuminaudio was released in 2010, Chiodos showed that they didn't need Craig Owens. Not only did their last album completely annihilate their previous material, it showed that there was some real talent in the band instrumentally.
