Cary advises that you disconnect everything from amp before biasing, even the speakers. You will not damage CARY amps running them without a speaker load connected. Also, the 3A Filament Fuse should be a 4A slow blow. Cary printed the wrong value on the back of the unit. In the schematic for the V12R is confirms it should be a 4A slow blow.

The V12R is sweet and detailed, but it just can’t a hold a candle to those 2 magical 45 triode watts. If you like the Cary “house sound”, you will love this amplifier. The original V12 earned a Stereophile Class A recommendation. The V12R improves upon and surpasses the original V12 in every single aspect from what I understand.

Of course, what matters most when it comes to distortion is its spectral distribution.
