Hello everyone, I’ve been researching on the topic of audio monitoring in the Canon 5D Mark II and I thought that the most inexpensive solution would be to get a 3.5mm minijack female to a RCA female stereo cable in order to use the RCA cable provided with the 5D and connect headphones to it to monitor the sound.

If you install "Magic Lantern" and then use an adapter, you can plug headphones into the A/V out and have live audio monitoring. (and lots of other very useful things too) You can't plug headphones directly into the 5D Mk II because the pin arrangement is not standard. The camera uses a 4 pin 3.5mm jack for audio and video that looks like this:
