If you have a professionally recorded disc, or if the disc was recorded as an audio CD, go to Start menu > Settings > Devices > AutoPlay and then turn on AutoPlay. If you've got a data disc there is a work-around: Right-click on the folder that contains the music, and from the context menu select Play with Windows Media Player.

You can check if the actual CD you're trying to use actually has an audio track on it (be it the original or backup) by playing it like a normal CD (track 1 will be all the data, the rest of the tracks will be the CD audio, if there's only one track you've got no CD audio obviously).
