Overall the CD4 is a fine sounding CD Player, very capable especially for the money. It does have reliability problems as mentioned by an earlier reviewer. I took one back coz it kept skipping. The replacement has worked fine for 3 years now, although now the display has given up and left a blank screen. Similar Products Used: same priced Yamaha

It has good, controlled bass and a fine midrange, with only a hint of grain in the treble. A nice, relaxed sound. It copes equally well with rock, jazz and classical. It has good sound staging, if …

The CD4SE has a very clear and detailed sound, with an impressive amount of bass through my Tannoy r2 speakers. For the money it is certainly the best I have heard. In fact it is better than some cd players costing a lot more. The sound is also quite natural and does not have that slight electronic or synthesized sound that other players have.

Both the CD4 and the Brio are warmer sounding components and they will tend to soften the edges of things. I actually have a Brio 3 at home now and so am quite familiar with its sound through a couple of different speakers and with several sources. Of course, I have heard it many more times at my business with primarily Rega equipment connected.

A AndrewMertt Novice Member Dec 6, 2019 #1 I have just acquired a Cambridge Audio CD04 player, to playback CDs through a Harman Kardon AV21 receiver and Mission speakers. It's a fair few years old, but seems to do the job just fine. There's no remore control with it - and the manufacturer is singularly unhelpful.

This is a fine cd player for the money. It has a few quirks, such as if you press play before the cd is initially scanned, it won't play however I can live with that. Like many others I replaced the power cord but to be honest, I didn't notice too much difference.

The sibilance and digital harshness that I thought was due to a poor recording was in fact due to the CD players I had been using! I noticed in the manual for the Cambridge that it recommends the CD player be turned on for 15-30 minutes before you do …
