You have to go into Preferences (press "P"), Audio -> Devices and point SONAR to your computer's onboard sound device. If you still don't have sound, go down to the Playback and Recording section and choose a different driver mode. Try WDM/KS first. If that doesn't work, use MME, which should always work. 35mm makes a point, though.

Posted May 26, 2020. Got to Edit -> Preferences-> Audio -> Playback and Recording. If Driver Mode is WASAPI Exclusive it means Cakewalk reserves the PCs audio system for itself. Change it to WASPI Shared. 1.

Start > control panel > audio and sound devices > audio> MIDI music reproduction The options there were "EDIROL UA-4X and SW GS Wave Table Synth". I changed to "SW GS Wave Table Synth". After making the above change to the system, I relaunched Sonar LE, and went to change the MIDI output again. But there was still only "EDROL UA-4X".
