    Choppy audio on play back Hi, I recorded a simple audio demo today just vocal and guitar. The waves looked fine as they appeared on the screen but when I went to play it back, the audio was choppy. I am able to play previous demos I have saved in Cakewalk projects that I recorded on previous versions of Sonar without any issues.

    This is a fairly new PC: Windows 10, Core i9 CPU, 32 GB RAM, 256 GB M2 drive, 512 GB M2 drive, 3 TB spinning disk. My plan was to install Cakewalk on the smaller M2 drive and process audio using the larger M2 drive. I do not have a dedicated sound card. My motherboard has integrated Realtek audio. I wonder if that could be an issue.

    The machine has 32gb of ram and a M-Audio 1010LT audio / MIDI card running ASIO drivers. This configuration normally runs flawlessly, but after the latest Windows 10 update, I began having the same issue you described. It affected both Cakewalk and REAPER, so I was pretty sure it was a Windows issue.

    If switching driver modes doesn't do the trick, the AUD.INI file may be corrupt. To wipe it out, go to Start | RUN and type %appdata%/cakewalk then press OK. Click on Audio Creator and delete the AUD.INI file. The next time the program launches it will rebuild the file with fresh driver information. Relaunch and try recording again.
