AUDIO PHÁSn SHIFT The B&W Model 350, Type 2Q4, 90 Degree Audio Phase Shift Network has been designed for single sideband suppressed cprrier radiotelephone receiving and transmitting applications. The unit is designed to split any audio signal, within the range of 300 to 3000 cps, into two equal amplitude com—

Probably the best-know of the PSNs was the B&W 2Q4/350, made by Barker and. Williamson. These units were housed in a metal tube shell the size of a 6J5, and gave a 90 degree phase shift (plus or minus 1.5 degree) over the audio. range of 300-3000 Hz. Many SSB projects in the '50s were designed around the. 2Q4/350.

Hi, Anyone have the basic circuitry for an audio phase-shift network for use in a phasing type SSB e***r. What I am interested in is the old B&W Model 350 2Q4. I have the circuits for the modern phase-shift networks, but I have never seen the layout for the older (1950's) networks. The 2Q4 has been

This notably was in the form of a commercial audio phase shift network (PSN) manufactured by B&W and known as the Model 350 2Q4. James Millen also produced such a network; but it seemed to be less popular perhaps because the 2Q4 was packaged like an 8 Pin tube and simply plugged into a standard octal socket. 9H1FQ Ham Member QRZ Page. Hi all, We have lots of resources and circuit ideas about the polyphase quadrature audio phase shift network, like HA5WH, Weaver, Gingell Tayloe etc. But which is the ideal ? Which is the one that gives the best sideband rejection ? Which is the most used ? Like to hear from anyone who has built one. 9H1FQ, Dec 8, 2009.

The RC networks produce quadrature output from those two phases. In a simple RC network, the phase shifts are 90 degrees at one frequency and at each side of it the shift starts to vary. In the polyphase network the 90 degrees is accurate at several frequencies in the passband so the variation is smaller and better distributed.

The audio transformer used after the audio phase shift circuitry isn't critical. I've had success with either a 3k to 3k, 2k to 10k or 1k to 8 ohm. Selectivity isn't brilliant but is better than a direct conversion receiver that has no audio image suppression. You will be able to hear SSB signals 5 kHz apart and mostly separate them.
