In iTunes, the gap fix is simple: when the pop-up box appears asking what type of disc you'd like to burn (Audio CD, MP3 CD), simply choose 'none' or however many seconds of silence you want. If you want an exact replica of the master CD, then you can use a number of programs which include a 'Copy Disc' feature (Nero, Roxio, etc).

The 2 seconds silence is only needed at the beginning of the first track, just to avoid the music start immediately when the play button of my cd player is pushed. At the end of this first track I add 4 seconds which I do with every next track. So: 2 sec - first track - 4 sec - second track - 4 sec - third track- 4 sec - fourth track... etc. Quote

Attempting to render a session with realtime effects fast enough to keep up with the cd burning engine could be problematic and lead to corrupted tracks on the CD. However, if you put marker ranges around each song, you can perform a mixdown and then drag each range into the CD Layout editor as a track and adjust the pause time as desired. 1 Like

This is Windows Media Player 12 default position. If you chose to remove the check mark, Windows Media Player 12 will add a 2 second gap between songs burned.

2 seconds between audio tracks. All audio CD authoring programs have a default 2 seconds pause between tracks. Interestingly, it sets the gap on the first track to zero also, which would produce a non-standard CD, but I guess it ignores that when it does the burn. So for the record, in Nero 7, checking the 'no pause between tracks' option gives you no pause between tracks, setting zero pause between tracks in the properties gives you 2 second pauses between tracks.

Only when your burning an audio CD would gaps possibly be added. To remove the pause in Nero, add your songs to an Audio CD, then highlight them all EXCEPT for the first one, go to properties, and set the gap to "0" seconds. I say ignore the first one because apparently the CD spec requires a 2 second pause before the first track.

As for Winamp burning Audio CDs, no idea, it's been probably 6 years since I've burned one of those (don't even have a AudioCD-only reader) Ideally, you don't want a solution that will crossfade, but rather one that will get rid of the silence at the beginning/end of tracks (foobar2000 might do it).
