All is not bleak, however. A few of Hovland's prized products are slated to continue. Design and manufacturing rights to the Music Groove 2 phono cable, which Michael Fremer re-reviewed in the July 2009 installment of his Stereophile column, "Analog Corner," have been purchased by Bob Graham of Graham Engineering. I just started at a VERY young age and never let go—of audio or the music. I was a co-founder of Hovland Company. We incorporated in 1999 and closed in 2009, but the adventure with them really began with four of us back in Robert Hovland's garage in the late 1970s. I have been selling MusiCap capacitors around the world since the 1980s.

I do know that Bob Hovland is a respected audio engineer. My primary question is whether the Hovland modifications decrease the resale value of the 8B. The unit that is stock and comes with the adapters to allow use of 6AU6s has no physical modifications so using the adapters would never hurt the resale value.

Bob Hovland is working on a JBL SA600 for me now. He worked at JBL back in the late 60's and knows the product intimately. In fact he helped design a reciever for JBL and was at a New York audio show to introduce it when they were abruptly called back and informed that JBL had decided to go in another direction, that marked the end of the SA 600, his tuner and other …
