Project 61 – BuildAudioAmps Project 61 Project 61 is based on two well-known audio power amplifier designs, the Blameless Amplifier by Douglas Self and the Audiophile Amplifier by G. Randy Slone. Both designs have identical differential …

Blameless Amp layout | diyAudio

A blameless amplifier can have either an EF or a CFP output. If EF, which is yours, the thermal sensing transistor should be sticked to the top of one of the output transistors. This is one of the biggest difference with almost all amplifiers which were commercialized before the publication of Self's works.

The circuit posted in the link above is called “Luxman L-85” but in fact the topology is rather the Douglas Self's “Blameless Amplifier” discussed in his book Audio Power Amplifier Design Handbook on also on his website

Messages: 4,834. Location: United Kingdom. I'm in the middle of reading Douglas Self's Audio Power Amplifier Design book and he mentions that at the time of writing thousands of amps had already been manufactured using the principles outlined in his book. I'm intrigued. Does anyone know which commercial amps he designed based on the Blameless ...

Distortion In Power Amplifiers - Douglas Self

A Blameless Amplifier gives a distortion benchmark that varies relatively little if confined to 8-Ohm loading. It forms a well-defined point of departure for more ambitious and radical amplifier designs.

Regular readers will know that I’m a fan of Douglas Self’s Blameless philosophy of audio power amp design. (An uncontroversial choice, as the Blameless topology is not really that different to designs you would have seen in Wireless World in the 1970s, or indeed the innards of Bob Widlar’s opamps.)
