Many moons ago Black Lion Audio had a mod for the Alesis 3630 compressor. It completely transformed the compressor into a new beast! It is a very transparent compressor. You can nearly peg the unit with the infinite ratio, attack and release as fast as they go and it still sounds clear! Set on more typical settings it’s completely transparent.

There is an online store-Black Lion Audio-that offers upgrades and service parts for the 3630. My service tech did mods to a couple of 3630's and they actually turned out pretty well. That box, as from the factory is a POC, but the Black Lion mods really cleaned up the sound and stabilized their operation.

About 7 or 8 years ago there was a trend for modding the Alesis 3630. Black Lion Audio in the US stopped doing theirs. I wonder why and I wonder if anyone is still doing them? I am not a modder but I do believe in making the best use of what I have and in appreciating my tools. Its fun to have something like that.
