I found a solution yesterday and it resolved my BF3 sound issue. Launch BF3, Alt-Tab, and go to your volume mixer and increase the sound level for BF3. You need to launch BF3 in order for it to populate in the control. Also building off this... see if your volume mixer even shows an altering level of audio coming from the application itself.
