This setup works reasonably well for home/recreational use and is a damn sight better than recording to camera - at least for the 7D. Although the H1 audio is acceptable, it's cheap in both price and build quality - the ON/OFF switch has popped off a few times, and I only miraculously managed to see it fall off each time (it's TINY).
