Which speakers: MS40 or A2? | [H]ard|Forum

Behringer MS40 and Audioengine A2 I like the Behringer's because they're cheap at about $120 shipped. The Audioengine A2 speakers seem to be better than the Behringer's, but cost $80 more. I will be using these speakers primarily for …

Behringer MS40 vs M-Audio AV40 | [H]ard|Forum

I'd probably take the Behringer out of those two. Both get decent reviews, but the AV40 isn't M-Audio's best set. The legendary BX5 D2 would be my choice from their line-up, but they are pretty pricey in comparison. I like the Behringers because they have dual TOSlink (coaxial and optical) switchable, plus analog. A nice set of inputs IMHO.

Fair enough, which one is the best? If you know better ones (up to £100-150 max) then suggest away. Either of these will be used with a computer (but if you suggest other speakers, it doesn't matter if they're passive but be careful about the price) and will mostly be used for Music (70%)...

Audioengine A2 bass is problematic with classical piano ...

The A2's are great for near field listening (inside 5 feet). I have the A2's w/ the Audioengine D1 DAC. What a pairing! The DAC really smooths out a lot of the bass muddiness. For the muddiness that's left over, I just use the equalizer in iTunes to reduce it.

Audio engine a2 vs Swan m10? : audiophile

    https://www.reddit.com/r/audiophile/comments/16tru2/audio_engine_a2_vs_swan_m10/
The Audioengine A2 has boosted bass and slightly reduced treble. The mids are more forward in the A2 compared to the M10. Clarity is very similar with both speakers. The bass extension and impact on the Swan M10 is better than the A2 but is still lacking compared to real 2.1 setups.
