(UPDATE 3-16-06)I understand that Audiovox now has this same unit available without vacuum control. It uses an electric actuator to move the throttle. This might be a better solution for most motorcycles as most motorcycles don’t develop a heck of a lot of vacuum, therefore you need to use a vacuum reservoir.

The cruise control can use either a magnetic pickup (magnets and coil) at the rear wheel or engine RPM from a tach signal or coil wire. I tested it with a coil wire attachment to the #1 coil and it functioned properly but I decided to use the speed sensor at the rear wheel (personal preference, actual speed vs engine RPM).

Audiovox no longer makes the CCS-100 but Murphs' CCS100 Cruise Control has a pretty much identical product. CCS-100 vacuum controlled positives: Fits under the side cover below the seat. The Rostra is bigger. Uses practically no electrical power while the Rostra has a 10A fuse for the motor. That being said, the motor doesn't really run for long.
