IIRC, the 304A contains a plastic tubular silver tonearm that has no sort of counterbalance adjustment; so, you're pretty much stuck with using the type of cartridge that it was designed for. If this was an older model that used a metal tonearm with adjustable tracking force, I'd recommend updating to a more compliant stereo cartridge.
