Audioromy 813 rectifier flash I´ve recently observed an unusual phenomenon with my amp; on starting the rectifier tube sometimes emits a purple flash in the top of the tube. Today it also made a small snap sound and it seems the left filament glows earlier than the right, as seen from the front of the amp. It is the standard 5Z3P tube.

I just bought my second Audioromy 838 with 845 tubes. I am looking to convert it for use with 813. I have the sockets and am almost ready to go. My big question is whether the power transformer can supply sufficient current for the 10 volt filaments. The 845 needs 3.25 amps and the 813 needs 5 amps.

Has anyone tried changing the circuit of the Audoromy 813 to Peter Millets circuit using a single Hi Gm pentode. gets rid of a lot of Caps. I biult an 813 using the HIGm pentode and Sowter transformer it works great. About to modify a sound track 813 to the same.
