Interestingly, the Diamond also seems to compensate for the PWD’s inherent lack of low-level detailing, making the DAC sound more hi res. Depending on taste, one might prefer the KingRex for its extra big and powerful sound, or the Diamond for its more neutral, more coherent and better focused, more highly resolved sound. First Listen: AudioQuest Diamond USB cable - Hi-Fi+

First, the Diamond USB cable is relatively stiff compared to many USB cables I’ve encountered, meaning you may need to take some time to bend it to the desired shape so as to fit with other components in your audio rack. Second, the power pack for the Diamond USB’s DBS system is comparatively bulky and is fitted on the ‘DAC end’ of the cable.

Not warm and not synthetic, but very flowing and transients are extremely quick. Bass response became realistic compared to lesser quality cables. No bass bloom or distortion I've noticed. Solid foundation midrange and syrupy pleasant sounding highs. I recommend this cable it goes for about $600 for a 1.5 meter as of the beginning of 2019.

The Diamond USB cable is lubricated with snake oil, which makes the electrons travel faster and more smoothly, with fewer bumps on the road. Log in or register to post comments Just one's and zero's? I conducted a survey in both the USA and the UK on Audio Forums about how much people paid for all cable relative to the overall cost of their system. Now the sample size was not huge, but roughly 100 to 200, and a vast majority spend less than 3% of …
