M-Audio Audiophile USB - Sound On Sound

    https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/m-audio-audiophile-usb
Despite its limitations, most of which are concessions to the bandwidth of USB, the Audiophile USB is ideal for simple audio applications where you only need limited I/O and you are working at sample rates up to 48kHz. It's less useful at 96kHz but it …

    https://en.audiofanzine.com/usb-interface/m-audio/audiophile-usb/user_reviews/
The M Audio Audiophile USB was purchased for 200 dollars which is a decent price point for this interface, its not over priced but not under priced either. It was a perfect interface for my home set up during the few months that I was using it. The sound that it gave me was pretty good, there really isn’t much to argue about with it.

The Audiophile USB is used only as transport in this review. Its functionality as a standalone DAC is not reviewed, but from a brief listening I did, it was decent. Sound: Definitely better than the Sony DVP7700 DVD player (poor man's Mark Levinson No. 37) I've been using as transport.

Massive USB Comparison Test. The debate around the value / importance of USB cables is a tense one in the audiophile world with some people swearing that the cable makes no difference and others believing it does. I personally sit in the second camp. I believe, based on listening to many different USB cables, that the cables do actually make a ...
