I own Ableton Live 6 along with Faderfox LV2 and LX2 and recently purchased an Audiophile 2496 Audiocard. Since the Audiophile 2496 is a very widely used soundcard, and since most of those installations almost certainly use WinXP, I would guess that either your card is faulty or there is some screwy incompatibality with some other part of your hardware or drivers. Video drivers have produced many audio card conflicts at various times in the past.
