M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Installation. I'm running Xubuntu 12.04, enhanced with ubuntustudio and kxstudio packages. I've been successfully using the audio interface on my NVidia card with ALSA and Jack. However, it's relatively high latency, so I picked up a used M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI card to try, and I'm having trouble getting ALSA to see it.

You need to go to the setup dialogue of Qjackctl and select the 2496. Then JACK sink will send the output to the 2496. The M-Audio 24/96 is a great card and works well with Linux. I am on my second one, having given the first one away with an old computer and regretted it. The sound is excellent and the latencies I get in 64 Studio are very low indeed. Depending on the distro's audio setup, you may need to edit some config files to get it working.
