thanks for the input, but i've already sent the Juli@ back. it was definitely a dud. i'm still interested to know of peoples impressions regarding Juli@ vs. Audiophile 192. keep in mind that i'll only be using digital out (except for analog in when recording). my understanding is that the Audiophile 192 has extremely solid drivers, which is always good. and i'm assuming that it …

Juli has more narrow soundstage comparing with M-audio and E-mu. Difference in sound in E-mu0404\E-mu1212\M-Audio AP192\ESI Juli is very slight really and depends on your personal tastes. If you don't care about too much highs in Juli sound (some people call it "crispy sound" - but personally me hate extra highs. May be not worth of extra money.

ESI Juli@ (balanced TRS connection) is a leader in details, attack and stereo panorama. Audiophile 192 yields a bit, but still performs better than M-Audio Revolution 5.1. Remember, these differences can be heard only on rather high-quality acoustics and hardly show up on inexpensive active stereo speakers or entry-level monitors.

I am preparing to do another "show and tell" at the next local Tech's Day and I want to make sure we'll never talk about buffer settings again.

These specs are comparable to the ESI Juli audio interface, and the RME multiface. Unsurprising, because the Audiphile 192 uses the same damn AD converter. So, again, why all the hate for the Audiophile 192? Is it really so inferior in terms of how well it will record an analog signal from my vinyl records as a digital file?
