However, when playing files at 192 khz, the sound comes out noisy, with crackles and pops - suggesting some sort of clipping. This problem also occurs rather indiscriminately when playing certain 96khz tracks, but much less frequently.

Audiophile pro tips. I thought it would be good if we could share some audiophile pro tips. I have turned 50 so I must have a ton of experience. Words of advice: Age-related decline of hearing can be compensated for by age-related increase in spending. Golden rule: For every year above the age of 30, add $1000 to total cost of setup to compensate.

A question about crackles and pops with vinyl : audiophile

    https://www.reddit.com/r/audiophile/comments/2wvxuf/a_question_about_crackles_and_pops_with_vinyl/
A question about crackles and pops with vinyl. Why do the records I have that are 180g "audiophile" LPs tend to crackle and pop less than the "regular" vinyls? I did a comparison between two brand new LPs, and the "regular" definitely crackled and popped more. Neither of them were contaminated with any significant amount of dust, I made sure of it.

If so, then a simple test would be to listen to the same music on the headphones and see if you hear the pops and cracks. If so, then the problem is not the monitors but rather your settings in Sonar. If you do not hear the pops and crackles on the headphones, then you probably do have a bad pair of monitors. #5 Jose7822 Max Output Level: 0 dBFS

Crackles and pops are magnified, and made more obvious with a better table and cartridge.Other noise does go away.It isn't very obvious on a Crosley, though. I wonder if I am onto something here, with many new records being pressed on inferior grades of vinyl.I have played records that were new and unplayed that were as noisy as many of the new ...

virtual audio cables and REAPER, getting occasional pops ...

The problem is, I'm getting random crackles and pops once in a while. We're talking maybe 1 pop or a bit of crackly-static per 10 minutes. The real problem is I'm recording this content and having cracks and pops in the final recording is unacceptable so it's something I need to prevent from happening in the future.
