It wasn’t until the arrival of the Audiolab M-DAC in 2011 that cash-strapped audiophiles had a genuinely flexible yet fine-sounding DAC. It was so good at its £600 price point that it turned the market upside down. The new M-DAC+ doesn’t do this – think of it as a brilliant refinement, rather than the reinvention of the hi-fi wheel.

Audiolab M-DAC review | What Hi-Fi?

    https://www.whathifi.com/audiolab/m-dac/review
Audiolab M-DAC at Sevenoaks for £749 The Dead Weather’s I Can’t Hear You has bamboozled many products with its slow-burning, brooding tone, but the M-DAC takes it all in its stride. The tension builds up through the tautly pulled strings, drums hit with impact and precision, and the rasping vocals have bite as well as subtlety.

Jun 29, 2012. #9. I have posted elsewhere too about the pre-amp section of M-DAC. Audiolab M-DAC is, IMO, best among Rega DAC, MF M1 DAC, Pioneer N-50 (which is a streamer + DAC). However the pre-amp section is really the weak link. It is there to give the added flexibility but will never match any true pre-amp.
