Besides, I found it is quite sensitive to the power supply, a good power cord can give obvious improvement on its sound qualilty, the uses of the CD mat also will improve/stand out the sound stage and give more clean and dynamic sound quality. 8000A can be very musical depending on the matching of the system including cables and so on.

The 8000A was a truly good sounding amplifier by the early 1990s, with a wide, expansive, and pleasurable sound – albeit not quite as visceral and ‘edge of the seat’ as competitors from Naim, for example. Regardless, it made a lot of friends and is perhaps one of the best-selling amplifiers of the 1980s and 1990s.

The presentation is large and airy (more so than on its rival Rega Brio ), giving instruments plenty of space to flaunt their wares. You can listen to this amp pretty loud, too – very little hardness creeps in when you turn the volume up high.

Sound isn’t the most engaging around The Audiolab brand was established on the extraordinary success of its first product, the 8000A integrated amplifier. Back in the early 1980s, this slim unit struck just the right chord with hi-fi buyers – its combination of quality build, sensible features and highly neutral sound proved a massive success.
