Worthful as a 2nd amp. Weakness: slightly lack of bass & punchy, bass not deep enough, poor quality of the connector/plug, need to turn >9'o clock in order to reveal the sound. I had bought the 2nd hand Audiolab 8000A at RM 1200 (~USD 340) in Malaysia about 2 months ago.

The 8000A is an extremely revealing amplifier and this attribute of it made some say its bright or unpleasant in the upper midrange and treble, especially when used with a low cost or older model CD players. When I "upgraded" to the 8000S, things improved drastically with regards CD playback.

The 8000a can operate as a pre, power or integrated amp and you can bi-amp with an 8000a/p. Although the power rating is different (60W vs 100W) the signal gain is the same.
