The Pro Signal PSG01551 does not fit the newer 8000A's with 6 inputs. In order to fit the extra phono sockets they went from fairly easy to obtain 18x14mm sockets to the 14x14mm grid - these are much harder to obtain (i.e impossible) They are, apparently, available from IAG but at quite a price.

Well firstly most Audiolab amps already come with separate phono sockets for pre-out and power-in, so it is usually just a question of removing some links or swapping a couple of resistors. Quality well designed amp with a good phono stage. These have been in production through the 80's and until 97 when Audiolab was bought by TAG McLaren. My one was a mid 90's model and easily outstripped the NAD 3130 it replaced. Sound is dynamic and punchy although the high end can get harsh, but only if pushed too hard.

Having owned the Audiolab 8000A series III for a number of years I can give, I hope, a reasonably accurate account of it. I bought it at the time for its accuracy - being partnered with a mildly warm Philips CD850 and mildly forward Tannoy 613's. In reality, it is mildly coloured. Mid range is slightly forward and hi treble is rolled back.
