I've always felt like the diminutive Marantz 1060 was a special amp in the lineup. The 30wpc is enough to power a good variety of speakers, and there is just something really "right" with the way is sounds. The very first piece of gear I bought when I got into this hobby was a Marantz 1060.

The 1060 is Classic Marantz. It may even be Saul Marantz, Marantz, not Superscope. But there was a lot of quality in those. IIRC, that was close to the largest integrated they made then. I sold them back about 1975/6. Sturdy stuff. The other that you ask about is newer, and in my opinion, not as collectable. Grainger49, Aug 1, 2006 #5

Messages: 44. I recently rebuild my 1060 and it has been sitting in my bedroom system playing mostly low volume. I ran into a problem i hadn´t noticed before regarding the volume. The volume will hardly increase between 9 and 12 on the dial. I set my meter to ohm and checked the volume pot and see it happening.

The 1060 is a legend in the Marantz lineup for good reason, it is a warm and enjoyable sounding amp. It's very well built, easy to service, and loaded with features. The 1060 is a capacitor coupled design, so expect a "thump" from your speakers when powering the unit on. The top cover has a nice satin black powdercoat.
