The Yamaha RX-A8A Flagship AV Receiver looks like a beast tipping the scale at 47.2lbs. One thing we noticed about the new AVENTAGE lineup is it's significantly heavier than predecessor models (ie. RX-A3080 weighs 39.9lbs, RX-A2080 weighs 37.5lbs compared to RX-A8A at 47.2lbs and RX-6A at 41.2lbs, respectively).

As listed on the Yamaha site, there is an $800 price difference between the RX-A8A and RX-A6A. I was thinking for that price I could get two Outlaw 2220 monoblocks or any number of brands of Class D Hypex NC502 or NC500 amps. Or I could save the money for the time being and use my Emotiva a100 for the rear height channels.

Anyone concerned about the HDMI 2.1 capabilities, I pressed Yamaha support a bit more and got this response. "After a firmware update this fall, all HDMI inputs and outputs on the RX-A6A will support the HDMI 2.1 specification 48 GBit/s bandwidth, 42.6 GBit/s data transfer." I would assume this goes for the A8A and probably the A4A as well.
