It sounds OK on those speakers but on better speakers, such as my home desktop KEF LS50's, the XDA-1 are not that good. I use the Benchmark DAC2 at home and that is a killer DAC for $2000.

I also noticed that Emotiva's only stereo preamp didn't have balanced inputs so in their lineup the XDA-1 would have to go straight into a power amp (like my Alesis RA-150, made for passive near-field monitors).
