Audioengine D1 Review - theGuruChoice

    https://theguruchoice.com/dacs/audioengine-d1/
The Audioengine D1 converter is undoubtedly the best dac under 200$. This model was designed to connect to a PC via a USB connector for use as an external high-quality sound card and is also equipped with an output for connecting headphones. The Audioengine D1 has an optical digital input for connection to other audio sources, such as media ...

    https://audioengineusa.com/shop/components/d1-24-bit-dacheadphone-amp/
The D1 includes a headphone amp based on the TI OPA2134 low noise opamp. This headphone amp is able to provide low-impedance, high-fidelity audio to a wide range of headphones. We've found the sweet spot for the D1 is headphones that …

Is there a way to turn off the optical output? - Squeezebox

    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?100637-Is-there-a-way-to-turn-off-the-optical-output
I have my Touch connected to an Audioengine D1 DAC that also connects to my Mac via USB; the DAC outputs to my powered speakers. The problem is that the DAC gives automatic priority to the optical input, and as long as the Touch has power (even in the off mode) that output is active, so I cannot play computer audio. Right now my options are to disconnect …

Solid DAC/Headphone amp in an attractive price range.

    https://www.amazon.com/review/R3JZPTR7YAXUXN
The D1 DAC + A5+ speakers and a Logitech Squeezebox Touch would make a killer little system for an office or bedroom. The D1 DAC + A2 and Audioengine AS8 Subwoofer would be a nice option for a 2.1 computer based system. The D1 is nicely priced, performs excellent and with Audioengines customer support + 3 year included warranty is a safe buy.

Heos vs. Sonos to replace Squeezebox Touch? - …

I'm looking to replace my Squeezebox Touch with a new streamer, probably either Heos or Sonos. It would be for background listening, mostly with Spotify and internet radio, through my Audioengine A5+ powered speakers. I might want to be able to wirelessly stream my music library (on an external hard drive connected to my Mac Mini) though.

AudioEngine A5 + Airport Express - Headphones & Speakers ...

    https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/8109-audioengine-a5-airport-express/
Posted August 11, 2011. The A-5s sound better with a decent dac. The SB Touch is probably more cost effective than an AE express and dac if you don't mind giving up on airplay. I'm running the Audioengine P-4 speakers on my desktop and adding a dac made a difference.

I Just ordered the Audioengine S8 powered subwoofer to complete the set. The A5+ do provide decent bass and will probably be enough for most folks, but I like lots of rich deep bass so the S8 is a must have for me personally. I also bought the Audioengine D1 DAC converter as I enjoy listening to High Definition Audio FLAC files.
