It's unfortunate that Swan Speakers (HiVi) doesn't do a better job with their sales and service channels in the US, but I would think the latest Swan M200 MkIII would sound better than anything Audioengine or M-Audio produces in the same price range. I'm not sure why Newegg stopped selling Swan's hi-end multimedia speakers.

    Go for the AudioEngine's m8, you will certainly be very happy, the m-audio av40's are the low low end studio monitors and studio monitors don't have a very friendly sound and the low ends are not that good. trust me you will be astonished by the A5's

    AVT is right - you simply won't get great bass from either speaker. The AV40 due to the larger size of the woofer and enclosure will have more bass. With that being said, I'd buy the AudioEngine A2+ if you listen at low-mid volumes, because its a higher quality product. If you need more bass, just buy a used subwoofer and connect it to the A2+.
