Audio Xtra serial number are strings, and have the generic format AUXZZ-1111-2222-3333, where ZZ is the major Xtra version. In order to protect your serial number from being included as a string in your Director projectors or dcr movies, the axRegister function requires only the three groups of numbers 1111, 2222 and 3333 inside a Director list.
