Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 Review - RTINGS.com

    https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/audio-technica/ath-anc9
The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 are great-sounding, comfortable headphones. They deliver decent performance all-around, with moderate-to-average noise isolation and little sound leakage. The button layout is unfortunately not the best, and the mostly plastic design doesn't feel durable. Our Verdict 6.7 Commute/Travel Average for commuting.

In contrast, as I say, then ANC9s are *not* silent; they hiss, which is really annoying. I didn't feel the ANC9s were any better at noise cancellation than the ANC7s (the 9's are supposed to be 95% effective vs 90% for the 7's). The ANC9s seemed to have a slightly bigger and heavier case than the 7's, and are themselves heavier.

£4.95 at Amazon The Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 s are lightweight and comfortable – everything you could want if you’re travelling long-haul. They’re a no-frills design, however, so don’t go expecting brushed-metal this and Bluetooth-enabled that.

Headphones with noise-cancellation circuits like the Audio-Technica ATH-NC9s actively neutralize outside noise. Overall, these cans do a great job of canceling out noise in the low end, and attenuating noise in the high end, so outside noise won’t be quite as annoying. Good job, Audio-Technica!

The same largely holds true for the ATH-ANC9. It has a sort of “middle-of-the-road” tonal balance that sounds good with most types of music, even if the sound isn’t super-refined. Geoff, Will, and Lauren all described the ATH-ANC9’s tonal balance in mostly similar ways, even though their testing sessions took place separately, on different days.
