The most important factor when choosing a resistor is power. The best practice for finding the right resistor for your audio equipment is to find a resistor which doubles in power. To find power in a resistor use this formula: P=V squared/R. The P in the equation is power, while the V is for voltage, and the R stands for resistance.

My check point is the outcome of tests which clearly show an effect as shown before. I don't know how to reconciliate that with the theoretical side. Jan But surely there exists data (such as 1/4W 1% metal film resistors in 200W power amplifier feedback paths) that suggests thermal modulation...

2005-09-21 2:04 pm. #4. Carbon composite resistors are known by audio-, guitar- and vintage people for their very clean and natural sound. Composite resistors differ from film resistors in that they consist of a little tube with a composite carbon resistor material inside. This makes the resistance, so you only have a few mm (tenth of an inch ...

However, once you make the move from five for a dollar to the good ones then you are in the same boat with resistors as amps, speakers, cables, etc. In other words its a personal taste call.

Path Audio Resistor connection?

This resistor is in the signal path, not in a shunt position. The shield wire that is attached to these Path Audio resistors are only used as a shield when connected to the ground portion of the crossover. It is not connected in any way to the other 2 leads that are used in the resistor section. OK, I get it now. Can't see how it could hurt.

They have a wide frequency response with negligibly low impedance phase shift, providing superior quality audio processing. At 1% they have a very tight tolerance, a low-temperature coefficient, and high heat dissipation. This makes the PathAudio resistor one of the best medium power rated component for audio applications.
