Audio Research VT100 upgrade to VT100 MKII. I have a VT100 pairing with SP6C. I feel the bass is not as deep as SS amp I used before. VT100MKII has doubled power supply caps which I think it will help the bass. Does any one know to upgrade VT100 to VT100 MKII? I am thinking about DIY.

I'm currently running it with LS2B line and PH3 phono stages powering Cary Silver Oak One speakers. I'd like to upgrade to Ref 3 pre-amp and Avalon speakers just to justify the VT100's capabilities. Wish me luck with the upgrades but my VT100 II is here to stay. I wouldn't trade it for any current Audio Research amp. It's just that good.

This improved midbass response, solving one of the weaknesses of the original VT-100, a lack of midbass clarity. Installation of an internal cooling fan, thus increasing tube life.
