Having used the SP9 mkII for 9 years I for one am enthusiastic about it. The amplifier is sweet sounding, smooth and holds its own in the lower octaves. It is sensitive to differences in tubes - tuberolling can yield intersting results. The preamplifier has kept up with the continuing improvemenst in the rest of the system.

SP9Mk2 has very natural soud and better sound stage than the one I used before. Its phono stage is excellent. I would suggest that if you have it and replace the tubes with Telefunken 6DJ8. Now, with the sp-8 in place, that thing is running 8-10 hours a day. When either of us get home, the first thing we do is turn the power on to warm up the preamp.
