The sound of LS 16 Mark II indeed is very closed to LS 25 Mark II but just a very little less detail. The highs is a very very little less transparent. If you can accept LS 16 Mark II, you save about $1500 which is the extra price for a LS 25 Mark II. My power amp is a Jeff Rowland Model 8, the LS 16 Mark II works very well with the Model 8.

I A/B'd my ARC LS 2B Mk II against the LS 16 and the LS 2 smoked it, especially when you consider the price. The 16 sounded dead, gain was real bad. If you notice there are alot of used 16's out there. I listened to the "22' a couple of times and still am amazed with the LS 2B. More money and newer doesnt mean better! Good Luck! magnepanmike

I owned the LS16MKII for almost 2 years and found it to have excellent bass response and control, a wide and deep soundstage, open and smooth mids and just a wonderful presentation. I did use the 6H30 "DR" tubes in it, but the stock 6H30 tubes are excellent. The "DR" tubes takes an already great performer up a notch or two.
