When it comes to midbass oomph, the DSi200 just seems to pull reserves from a seemingly bottomless well and yet never seems short of control even while driving demanding loads like the Magico V2 or TAD CR-1 loudspeakers. This amp’s strongest suit is, far and away, imaging. Images are uncommonly specific and stable.

Mar 30th, 2010. A. A. A. At this year’s RMAF I blogged about the first US appearance of Audio Research’s DSi200, a high-power solid-state integrated amp equipped with remote control, three single-ended inputs and a pair of balanced inputs. At 19"W x 5.25"H x 14.25"D and weighing 37.2 pounds, the DSi200 is a substantial piece of gear with the classic Audio Research good looks, especially in silver with rack handles -- and therein lies the biggest outward difference. Instead of making the handles black, as has long been ARC’s wont, these are now the same color as the faceplate ...

That's a sympathetically light wand, perfectly fitted to the machine’s functions (i.e. not repurposed from another model) and it allows display dimming. On social graces the DSi200 offers 2 x XLR and 3 x RCA inputs. Those sockets are solid and nicely spaced. Outputs are limited to single pairs of speaker terminals.

For $6500 you can do better then an ARC DSI-200. I heard the 200 driving a Magnepan 1.7 and was disappointed. The ARC produced a fake type of "sweetness". This was an early production model, maybe ARC has improved the sonics? Since I have not heard the Synchrony One I can't zero in on any specific amp.
