Output impedance – PS Audio

    https://www.psaudio.com/pauls-posts/output-impedance/
If the input impedance of your power amplifier is 10k then the output impedance of your DAC or preamp feeding it must be at least 1k and better if it’s 100 Ohms or less. If it’s 100 Ohms you’ll only lose a tiny amount of signal at the junction between the preamp and the amp – 100th of what you are sending, just for understanding sake ...

Preamp output impedance? | Audio Science Review (ASR) …

Output impedance used to be an issue with valved pre-amps which could have output impedances of many thousands of ohms, and so limiting cable lengths to a metre or two at most. With any modern SS pre-amp, it's just not an issue, go for whichever pre-amp has the facilities you need. S.

audio - How to measure the output impedance of a valve ...

I was trying to measure the output impedance of a DIY preamp for the past couple of days without any luck. Each time, I got to the same result of around 3K3 ohm, which is unbelievably low. This is the circuit I’m working with: I’m using the book “Designing Valve Preamps,” by Merlin Blencowe as a reference. What I have tried:

What is Impedance in Audio? Input and Output …

    https://virtuosocentral.com/what-is-impedance-in-audio/
In audio devices, impedance is the measure of the resistance of a circuit to alternating current (audio signal). It’s measured in Ohms. The “Z” symbol represents impedance. All audio equipment that receives an input and has an output will have impedance measurements, namely input, and output impedances. More on that later.

How to calculate Tube Preamp output impedance? | diyAudio

I recommend keeping the high value DC blocking cap on the output. 1uF and 10k or 22k input impedance curtails the bass too much. For the Aleph, maybe even going as high as 8uF could be worth trying. If you do adopt the DC blocking cap at the pre-amp output end then you can bypass the DC blocking cap at the power amp input end.

Understanding Impedance - Sound on Sound

    https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/understanding-impedance
Since the pick-up presents a relatively high output impedance, it is normal to provide guitar preamp and DI inputs with a hugely high input impedance. A minimum value is typically 470kΩ, but many are over 1MΩ and a few, designed for accepting feeds from magnetic pickups in some acoustic guitars, are rated even higher than this.

Preamp - amp impedance matching question | Steve …

General rule of thumb is load impedance 10X or more the source impedance, to minimize voltage loss at the load input. A 14 ohm preamp output impedance is extremely low. You should have no problem with pretty much any amp on Earth with that one, you could load that with a 140 ohm input impedance amp and be in the 10X territory, never mind 33 kohms.

Mix and match impedance – PS Audio

    https://www.psaudio.com/pauls-posts/mix-and-match-impedance/
Before I got the DS DAC with its output volume control and then the BHK preamp, I drove my amps with my DAC, which like the DS DAC and the BHK preamp had a very low favorable output impedance. But it’s output was a fixed 2v, requiring an external volume control (attenuator) in order to modulate the strength of the signal driving the amps.

Possible impedance mismatch using passive preamp - woody ...

Possible impedance mismatch using passive preamp 62.7.37.15. Posted by woody on March 3, 2001 at 12:20:42 . I'm considering a passive preamp to use with a new DAC and my only concern is a possible impedance mismatch with my power amp.

Impedance Question? - High-End Audio Discussion Forum

    https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/impedance-question-4
Many manufacturers, like Audio Research, recommend a 20:1 or 30:1 minimum ratio. The main reason is because most stated preamp output impedance is not a ruler flat measurement, but rises quite a bit in the lower bass regions. For example, my ARC Ref 5 preamp has an output impedance rating of 600 ohms (balanced).
