Then go to the View tab and make sure Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected. If you do not have it or cant find it try downloading it and manual moving it to c:\Windows\system32. For no audio at all I have found the best source for new sound driver is the cd that comes from the motherboard manufacturer.

This is my desk top computer originally coming me vith Win7 where the audio mixer worked well, allowing me to record audio's being played. After switching to Windows 10, the mixer has yet been present only as an audio device with microphone and line-in, but this mixer is not recognized by the software, and then any recording is impossible.

Now using Windows 7, but since Vista I have not been able to record sound from the speaker / sound device, using Audacity. I recently found that when opening the "Volume Mixer" - right clicking speaker icon on taskbar - there are only 2 sliders present ; for "Device" > it's Speakers, and for "Applications"> it's System Sounds. That's it.
